In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Fort Myers Police Department has established several procedural changes. These changes have been made to reduce the risk of exposure to protect our employees and the public.
For minor crimes, reports may be taken over the phone. Examples of such reports include, but are not limited to; past-occurring crimes, lost property, etc. Also, our dispatchers may be asking additional screening questions and asking the parties involved to step outside to speak with responding officer(s) to maintain a safe social distance.
As stated in a previous release, the FMPD lobby will be closed until further notice. Citizens will continue to receive police services as they do without physical access to the police department lobby, law enforcement window, or Records Section window. Should someone wish to request police services or need immediate assistance, they will have direct access to the Communications Section through the emergency call box located directly next to the front doors. Additionally, all fingerprinting for the general public will be suspended until further notice.
The Fort Myers Police Department wants to assure you that we are still in full operation to safeguard the citizens of the City of Fort Myers.
