Jeremy Jamal Moore was found guilty as charged with Resisting or Obstructing an Officer without Violence and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was found guilty following a two-day trial in Lee County.
On July 11, 2019, the Fort Myers Police Department responded to an apartment complex on Central Avenue in Downtown Fort Myers to investigate a dispute. While the first responding officer was attempting to speak with the defendant to discern his identity and get basic information, he ran and jumped off a third-floor balcony. Once the defendant hit the ground, he hopped up and took off running.
Officers engaged in a foot chase, set up a perimeter in the area, and eventually found the defendant with the assistance of a K-9. He was hiding in a chicken coop behind a nearby home.
The defendant was searched after he was taken into custody. Officers found a cigar wrapper on him that had a baggy containing the designer drug, Eutylone, inside.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 23rd. Assistant State Attorney Heather Fly prosecuted the case.
