FMPD Makes Child Neglect Arrests

On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, FMPD Officers were called to two different locations to investigate possible child neglect.

The first incident happened at approximately 11:00 AM when a four-year-old child was found wandering outside an apartment complex at 4637 DeLeon Street. The child was cared for while management assisted police in attempting to locate a parent. A female approached officers and identified herself as 19-year-old Dionna Drake, the child’s mother. Drake stated that she left her daughter locked in the apartment, unattended, while she went to a job interview.

Drake was arrested for neglecting a child without great harm. The department of Children and Families was contacted, and the child is in the care of another family member.
